About

Dr. Manjistha Banerji is an Associate Professor of social science in Rashtram School of Public Leadership, Rishihood University. She completed her PhD in Sociology from University of Maryland, College Park and her Masters (Delhi School of Economics) and Bachelors (Delhi University) training are in Economics. This inter- disciplinary background allows her to locate her research at the interstice of the two disciplines. Her research are in the domains of family demography, migration, education and development, which she studies employing the lenses of gender and social stratification and using both quantitative and qualitative research methods.

She has published in several (inter)national peer- reviewed journals as also in popular media. She is a PI in a survey- based Rashtram School of Public Leadership study examining the cultural, political and social attituteds of Hindu pilgrims and a Co-PI in a recently funded (December 2025) ICSSR study on military families in India. Her teaching assignments at Rishihood University include undergraduate and advanced level courses in statistics, first year undergraduate courses titled "Understanding India" and "Fundamentals of System Thinking" that are taught as part of the Rishihood Foundation Progamme.
