Pratishtha Mukherjee is a passionate archaeologist and educator whose work focuses on uncovering and preserving India’s rich archaeological heritage through research, teaching, and fieldwork.

Her educational journey includes a Ph.D. in Archaeology and Ancient History from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where she focused on the “”Sculptural Analysis of the Yakṣa Figurines from North India with special reference to Ganga Valley.”” Prior to this, she completed a Master of Arts in Archaeology and Heritage Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, with a dissertation on “”the Cult of Lajja Gauri- Origin and Development,”” and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Archaeology and Ancient Indian History from The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda.

Pratishtha’s office experience includes roles as a Young Archaeologist at the Excavation Branch-II and Central Antiquity Collection Section, Purana Qila, Archaeological Survey of India, and as a Visiting Faculty at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. She has also served as a Research Intern at the National Monuments Authority and held positions at various institutions like IP College for Women – Museum and Archives, National Museum, and INTACH in New Delhi.

Her teaching and supervising experience includes delivering lectures and courses on various topics related to ancient Indian culture, heritage, and archaeology. Pratishtha has also been actively involved in leading reading groups, mentoring courses, and conducting workshops both online and offline.

Pratishtha’s research contributions are significant, with several publications and presentations on topics ranging from the portrayal of Yakkha in Jataka to the study of Sanghol sculptures and the Indo-Iranian relationship during the Achaemenid Era. She has also received prestigious awards for her academic achievements, including being a Gold Medallist and a recipient of the IKS-India Research Grant 2022.
